Personal Benefits of Crocheting

When I started posting my crochet projects online, a lot of people were surprised. They didn't imagine that a young lady like me would know crochet. They had this stigma that crochet was only done by old folks. I didn't take it negatively. On the contrary, it made me proud to know a craft that people thought to be only for the oldies. It made me more proud that people were appreciating the projects I made. This gave me the confidence to do and accept more challenging projects. Doing crochet built my self-esteem.

In this day and age where people expect so much; one would want to at least have an escape from it all. For me that was crochet. Personally, I think that crocheting has tons of benefits. It's more than arts and craft but a calming activity to ease your mood from a stressful day. The repetition of an easy pattern keeps your mind and body relax.

1. Builds Self-Esteem

At first, I didn't think much of crochet. For me it was just a hobby and I just wanted to make cute accessories for my baby. When I started to get orders and hearing the feedback about how beautiful my projects turned out it made me more confident. Because of that, I had to learn and practice more techniques. I wanted to make sure that each project is up to my client's satisfaction. I'm hoping that in time I will be able to make my own designs.

2. Stress Reliever

I am a full-time stay-at-home working mom. Imagine how my day looks like. First, I have a clingy but adorable child that needs my care and love. Secondly, I have a list of household chores that needs to be done at specific times of the day. Lastly, I have my freelancing job. Luckily, crochet calms and relaxes me with every stitch count and rows and rounds that I finish.

3. Taking Control

Crochet gives me a sense of control. It gives me the freedom to choose the type of yarn and hook size I use. I can adjust my stitch counts depending on the project measurements. Most especially, I get to choose the color I like.
